Luciano , Louie Culture, Cocoa Tea and Admiral Tibet are among the artistes who have been confirmed for this year’s staging of A St Mary Mi Come From, set for the National Indoor Sports Centre in St Andrew on November 10.

Deejay Capleton, the self-proclaimed ‘Fire Man’, and his team have taken the decision to move the event from his home parish due to consistent rainfall over the years.Torrential rain forced last year’s show at Gray’s Inn Sports Complex in Annotto Bay to be abandoned. Capleton is taking no chances this time around.

“Last year, we had an awesome package featuring the best in reggae and dancehall, but rain intervened and the event had to be aborted. As expected, as promoters we incurred losses, but the biggest regret for us was not being able to honor our pledges to the charities for which the event was intended,” Capleton said.

The artiste, who is the 2016 recipient of the Social Development Commission’s (SDC) Entertainment Award of Excellence for outstanding contribution in community development, hopes corporate companies will support his annual venture which assists hospitals, infirmaries and schools.

“It’s really such a joy to support schools, hospitals and youths clubs. We have seen over the years the extent to which the proceeds of this event have enriched the lives of others and it is a project that my entire team is totally committed to. Claudette Kemp is the driver and she works assiduously every year to make A St Mary Mi Come From a reality,” said Capleton.

A St Mary Mi Come From was first held in 2000 at Clements Park as a ‘giving back’ event by Capleton to his parish. His alma mater, Islington High School, the Port Maria Hospital, Annotto Bay Hospital, Oberlin High School and Haile Selassie High School are some of the institutions that have benefited from the show.
