“WINNING THE REGGAE GRAMMY AWARD WOULD MEAN THE WORLD TO ME” SAYS FOUR-TIME GRAMMY WINNING POP SINGER ED SHEERAN!

Ed Sheeran—

Four-time Grammy Award winner Ed Sheeran has always professed his love for reggae music. Earlier this year, the English singer/songwriter told The Gleaner that he grew up on Jamaican music. He also revealed that he was largely influenced by the genre birthed out of Jamaica. As we get closer to the day the 2019 Grammy nominees will be announced, Sheeran says he would be more than honoured to be nominated in the Best Reggae Album category.

Speaking about the possibilities, Sheeran said a Reggae Grammy award would mean the world to him.

“As huge fans of reggae, it would mean the world to myself and my cousin Jethro to win a Grammy for such a great album with such amazing talent and with some incredible artistes,” he said, as he described the Tropical House Cruises to Jamaica album that he is featured on.

“I think we should win this Grammy hands down. Look at the stats, just listen to the album, it’s incredible. I think it’s the best reggae album that has been released that I’ve heard. It has some of my own favorite artistes on the album, and it’s an honour to be up there alongside such legends,” he continued.

Sheeran and his cousin Jethro are two of the artistes featured on the Billboard chart-topping album, Tropical House Cruises To Jamaica. The compilation has been submitted to the Recording Academy for their consideration in the Best Reggae Album category.

Aside from Sheeran and his cousin, the album packs huge star power with the likes of Damian ‘Jr Gong’ Marley, Sean Kingston, Wyclef Jean, Vybz Kartel, and Sean Paul. The album spent more than 10 weeks atop the Billboard Reggae Album chart and has been touted by many music critics as one of the best reggae albums to have been released this year. If the album is nominated, it will see many of the entertainers featured on the compilation receiving their first Grammy nomination, including Vybz Kartel and Sean Kingston.

The 15-track album was released by Contractor Music Group (based in Ocho Rios, Jamaica) and is distributed by Atlanta-based Amada Records under the EAE Management Group.
