GT Taylor —

Event organizer GT Taylor has apologized to fans who were disappointed at the premature end of his annual GT Taylor Christmas Extravaganza after the police refused to grant an extension of time to artistes. The event was held on Christmas Day in Black River.

“The superintendent (of police) did not honour the request of the Ministry of Culture and Entertainment to grant the extension to 6 am. People who came from England, France, USA and the Caribbean left disappointed at the early ending of the show,” Taylor said.

He disclosed that he secured an extension permit from the Ministry of Culture, Gender and Entertainment which was delivered to the police.

Despite his disappointment with the premature close, Taylor praised the artistes for their support.

“Agent Sasco gave an excellent performance, plus the performances of Rygin King, Govana, Tee Jay and they were joined by the King of the Dancehall, Beenie Man. The veterans also represented well, Leroy Sibbles and Ken Boothe. The major disappointment for me is the police stopping the show at 4 am, this show has a precedent of ending at 6 am for 17 years, all of which have been incident-free. The same extension is given to Reggae Sumfest and Rebel Salute, so I don’t understand what happened,” Taylor said.

The event was attended by Miss Jamaica World 2018, Kadijah Robinson, who hails from Carr District in New Market, St Elizabeth.

Taylor stressed the importance of ‘Extravaganza’ to the parish.Sponsored LinksStair Lift Elevators Could Be Cheaper Than You ThinkStairLift | Search AdsBus Driver Slips Student A Note, Mom Reads It And Pulls Out Her PhoneLife Buzz

“The event contributes to the economy of St Elizabeth and gives help to the community in terms of helping the homeless, gives assistance to a child for school assistance yearly. The show has been incident-free for 17 years, it should be treated as any of the other major events in Jamaica,” he reasoned.

The show did not have a huge turnout compared to previous years. There was less than 4000 patrons in the venue.
