OWNER of Exodus Nuclear Sound Ernest “Father Romie” Braithwaite said he is giving thanks for life after being shot and injured near his studio in Havendale, St Andrew, last Sunday.

According to police reports, an attempt was made by robbers to take the music producer’s gold chain. In the tussle, he was shot in the upper region of the body.

Braithwaite, who was released from hospital on Monday, said the ordeal has been traumatic.

“Last night [Thursday] mi get a good night sleep, but you see the night before, mi wife seh mi wake up a cry. Is like the whole thing just flash before mi eyes,” he said.

The 71-year-old said he grew up in Kingston’s inner city and has never experienced anything of this nature.

The selector said he will take some time off from music to fully recuperate.

Founded in 1986 by Father Romie, Exodus Nuclear Sound has been one of Jamaica’s most influential sound systems. The ‘sound’ wields its sphere of influence in the Red Hills and Manning’s Hill roads sections of the Corporate Area. It is even immortalised in songs by deejays including Popcaan, Vybz Kartel and Cham.
