COCOA TEA IS BACK ON THE BILLBOARD REGGAE CHART!

BY KEVIN JACKSON—

Veteran roots singer Cocoa Tea re-enters the Billboard Reggae Albums Chart this week at number 13 with Music Is Our Business. The 20-song set was released March 15 by the VP Music Group.

It features 15 previously released singles and five previously unreleased master recordings from producer Bobby “Bobby Digital” Dixon’s Digital B label. The latter batch was recorded between 1987 and 2003.

Prior to Music Is Our Business, Cocoa Tea had 11 albums, all released by VP Records. This is his first entry on the chart but it is far from a mega-seller. Music Is Our Business sold 33 copies last week to bring its tally to 114 copies.

Tommy Lee Sparta earns his second Billboard title as Reincarnation, released April 22 by Boss Lady Muzik, enters at number 16. Last year, the deejay peaked at number nine with New Creator.

Reincarnation has sold a paltry 30 copies. Tommy Lee’s current hit song, Blessingsfeaturing Damage Musiq, is not on the album.

The Top 10 has one new entry and several re-entries.
