GRAMMY-NOMINATED ETANA TAKES HER SHOW ON THE ROAD!

Etana —

Etana is scheduled to head off to Paris, France, to begin the European leg of her Reggae Forever world tour. The jaunt, which started on April 16 in the United States, is expected to end on August 25 in The United Kingdom.

“I am going to rehearse in Paris and then head to Mauritius. In all, there are six shows in Europe and two in England, with a break for Canada and then back to Jamaica for Reggae Sumfest. It is going to be extremely hectic, but the work must go on. I have to satisfy the fans,” said Etana.

Shows are slated for Dortmund and Frankfurt, Germany, on June 21 and June 22, respectively. The Mauritius gig is on June 28.

The reggae singer said interest in vinyl records has seen a resurgence.

“The streaming is booming right now online and the sales of the physical album on the US leg of the tour went really well. We sold off all of the physical albums but I haven’t ordered anymore yet. People want the physical album, but were more excited when they saw the vinyl. They bought the vinyl copies faster than the CDs, even [though] they were more expensive. I met Jamaicans who just want vinyl as collector’s items,” she revealed.

In the meantime, Etana is already working on her next project.

Earlier this year, Etana was nominated for a Grammy award in the Best Reggae album category for Reggae Forever. The Grammy went to Shaggy and Sting’s collab work 44/876.

This was the third nomination of a female in the Reggae Grammy category. The last female to earn a nomination was Sister Carol. She was nominated in 1997 for her album, Lyrically Potent.
