The newly minted Grammy Kid in the Best Reggae Album category, Kabaka Pyramid, was all smiles as he made his début on Fox 5 Good Day New York, one of the state’s top five morning programs, on February 24.

Styled by Shamara ‘Shampagne’ Sahadeo, Kabaka rocked one of her Seora Clothing designs – just as he did at the Grammy Awards last month – and represented well with an acoustic performance of Stand Up, one of the tracks from his Grammy-winning album, The Kalling, followed by an interview.

He was accompanied by his guitarist, Shackair McQueen.

“Thanks for the platform to perform #StandUp alongside @shackair94,” Kabaka posted on social media after his Fox 5 performance.

Now on his first European tour since 2019, Kabaka and his Bebble Rock crew will be on the road for six weeks for what he is calling the ‘Grammy edition’, and has dates in Munich, Amsterdam, Brussels, Berlin, Hanover, Paris, Vienna, Bologna, and London. He is also confirmed for major festivals such as Rototom Sunsplash, Summerjam, Reggaeland UK and Rise and Vibes.

Kabaka is already writing excitedly about his Toulouse, France show last week.

Prior to trekking to Europe, Kabaka was invited by Oliver Mair, consul general, Southern USA, to an event in Florida held in celebration of Marcus Garvey and reggae music, where he was honored with a plaque which stated: “In recognition of your exemplary musical contribution to Jamaica’s cultural heritage on the global stage.”

In a show of appreciation, Kabaka wrote: “Nuff raspect to the Consulate General of Jamaica, Miami @mairoliver for this award I received first night in Miramar, FL at the 2nd annual Celebrating Garvey and Reggae! Special blessings to UNIA-ACL-Jamaica President Steven Golding for a rivetting and inspiring speech about the hidden aspects of Garvey and Garveyism. I urge everyone to see the documentary “African Redemption: The Life and Legacy of Marcus Garvey” it is very powerful! Give Thanks Kingston 21!! Perfect send off to my Europe tour.”
