SINGER/MUSICIAN PAUL KASTICK HAS RELEASED HIS LATEST SINGLE “I’LL SEE U IN MY DREAMS!”

Paul Kastick

A solid drummer who has played with some of the biggest names in reggae, Paul Kastick is a rock and roller by nature. Many of his productions, including I’ll See U In My Dreams, have that in-your-face guitar sound.

Released on March 29, the song is produced by his GrooveGalore Muzik company with input from Valentino Music, owned by his longtime friend, American guitarist Rudy Valentino. It is a cover of I’ll See You in My Dreams, a massive hit in 1989 for the American rock band Giant, led by guitarist/singer Dan Huff.

This is the second song on which Kastick shows off his vocal chops. The first, a reggae-rock rework of Steely Dan’s Night by Night, was released last year.

A cover of I’ll See You In My Dreams, Kastick said, was a long time coming. As much as he loved the original, he was determined to put his stamp on it.

“If you listen to it an’ my version I add tons of stuff, different inflections, different phrases. I’m not a singer in the league of Dan Huff but I put my cultural spin on it, yuh hear some dancehall mix, similar to what we did with Tessanne an’ Hideaway,” he explained.

Tessanne is Tessanne Chin, who had a breakout hit in 2010 with Hideaway, produced by Kastick and Valentino.

From Montego Bay, Paul Kastick started his career on Jamaica’s north coast hotel circuit. Moving to Kingston, he played in the 809 Band which also included saxophonist Dean Fraser, trombonist Nambo Robinson, bassist  Gibby Morrison and guitarist Winston “Bo Pee” Bowen.

He has held the drum seat for Maxi Priest and Big Mountain for many years.

My Reggae Rockin’ Journey Vol. 1, Kastick’s album of reggae covers of classic rock songs, is expected to be released by July.
