Da’Ville

Reggae singer Da’Ville, who has been away from Jamaica for some time after relocating to the US, has claimed that doing music overseas has made him more knowledgeable and appreciated as some local producers took him for a fool in his earlier years.

“Doing music here in America is way different than in Jamaica. What I’ve encountered here is knowledge on a whole new level. I’ve learned to value my talents way more than I was allowing myself and talents to be valued back home a yawd. Producers took a lot of us for the fools that a lot of us are; I too was one of those fools,” he said.

“But once you get knowledge and start to value yourself, you find out that a lot of the same people don’t want to work with you any more because now they can’t hide the knowledge and rob you blindly. Thank God, I was always a self-reliant person. I can write, compose, sing, produce, perform and sing my own background harmonies. So because of that, I’ve become very decisive about who I work with,” he added.

He admitted that even though he has been noticeably absent from Jamaica, he has been busy making music and performing overseas.

“The world is big, enuh, and I’ve been blessed to make music that passed the airports in Jamaica and crossed borders, and because of that, I continuously get offers for my performance and appearances. Some I take, some I don’t. Some are able to afford me, some aren’t. But by the grace of God, I stay busy,” he said.

The Always On My Mind singer is preparing for the release of his latest single Only You on the ‘Bankx’ rhythm, which will be his second release for the year following Be Mine that was released in January. He said that Only You delves into themes of love, longing, and desire.

“It portrays an individual passionately expressing their exclusive feelings for someone special, confessing that every action is inspired by thoughts of that person. The imagery of the DJ playing their cherished song creates a poignant connection between music and the beloved. The invitation to ‘bounce along into my arms where you belong’ evokes a profound yearning for closeness and intimacy. In essence, the song revolves around fervent affection and the longing for union with the beloved,” he said.
