By Janet Silvera– Several Caribbean Airlines passengers were last night left stranded at the Norman Manley International Airport in Kingston after the flight, destined to Fort Lauderdale, was denied landing by United States Border Control, while mid air. Clive Forbes, the Caribbean Airlines General Manager for Jamaican operations, explained that this was because of a Customs and Border Control curfew. “Fort Lauderdale airport has a cut-off time. It was very close to the cut-off time so therefore, the aircraft had to return. Olympic Gardens Police Station. – File By Damion Mitchell— KINGSTON, Jamaica: The Acting Police Commissioner, Glenmore Hinds, has ordered an investigation into complaints that the Olympic Gardens Police have been disturbing the neighbourhood with the playing of loud music up to 3 o’clock at nights. The Inspectorate of the Constabulary is to spearhead the probe. Yesterday, a letter writer in The Gleaner highlighted the situation in the Kingston community saying it was unbearable. According to the writer, a senior police officer was rude and dismissive when a complaint was made to him. Another policeman is said to have sought to obtain the precise address of the complainant.
