ITALIAN FIRM TO SELL BOB MARLEY-INSPIRED HEMP ICE CREAM!

 The ice cream is made from the seeds of the hemp plant.— A north Italy-based ice cream parlor in the small resort town of Alassio – which is seven square miles with a population of approximately 11,000 – hopes to begin selling its Bob Marley-inspired hemp treats before year end. The parlour teamed with the Canapa Ligura organisation – best known for promoting awareness of the health benefits associated with hemp – to create the ice cream flavour as a tribute to the late reggae icon. Hemp is a variant of the cannabis sativa or ganja plant, and is mainly used for making fibres and textiles. BOB MARLEY AND JACOB MILLER – A SPECIAL BOND!

In March 1980, Bob Marley and Jacob Miller traveled to Brazil for the launch of their label Island Records’ office in Rio de Janeiro. Within days of returning to Jamaica, Miller was killed (on March 23) in a motor vehicle accident in Kingston at age 27. One year later, Marley died from cancer in Miami, aged 36. This year, Marley would have been 70 years-old. His legend, built on timeless songs, continues to grow through album reissues and merchandise ranging from organic coffee to children’s books. Forbes Magazine named Marley among its five richest dead celebrities with earnings of US$21 million in 2015. He came in fourth behind Michael Jackson, Elvis Presley and cartoonist Charles Schulz. NEAR SETTLEMENT REACHED BETWEEN ALLAN “SKILL” COLE AND CHRIS BLACKWELL, OVER UNPAID ROYALTIES!

They wrote several of Marley’s most popular songs which Cole says was based on their bond. He never foresaw any legal complications. The 65-year-old Cole, who has been at odds with Island Records cofounder Chris Blackwell over unpaid royalties for decades, told the Jamaica Observer last week that they are nearing an agreement. “We are in the process of coming to an understanding an’ settlement over songs not written by Bob, or co-written by Bob,” said Cole.
