ARTISTS “MUZZLED” IN AGREEMENT REACHED FOR THE EDMONTON REGGAE FESTIVAL SEPTEMBER 5!

BY RICHARD JOHNSON   DUE to backlash for the inclusion of reggae performers I Wayne, Queen Ifrica and Capleton in Canada’s Edmonton Reggae festival, a code of conduct has been arrived at for all performers. The event, which will be its second staging, is scheduled for September 5. According to a release from John Fortuno — president of the Edmonton Reggae Festival Society — a meeting was held between the organizers of the festival, and members of the Queer, Black and Caribbean community and the Pride Center of Edmonton. THE EDMONTON REGGAE FESTIVAL UNDER PRESSURE FROM GAY-RIGHTS GROUP FOR ITS HEADLINERS!

Festival spokesperson says there is “no cause for concern” and the performers have been briefed on their expectations. BURMUDAN-BORN ROOTS SINGER MAGMA STEPS INTO KINGSTON’S SPOTLIGHT!

 Magma— ELEVEN years after moving to Jamaica, Bermudan roots singer Magma steps into the spotlight at the Countryside Club in Kingston next Thursday. It is where the lanky Rastafarian launches The Mission, his debut album. Magma has recorded for noted producers since settling in reggae land. Among them, Downsound Records’ Josef Bogdanovich, Paul Lowe-Chin and veteran session guitarist Earl ‘Chinna’ Smith. From their earliest sets at the JamWorld Complex in Portmore on Friday night, it was clear that the reggae acts were determined not to be outdone. They put in workman-like performances to earn the respect of the tough Sting crowd. Reggae artist Jah Lex– Reggae artist Jah Lex recently released his first official reggae album called Shine Yuh Light. The album is currently available online on all digital stores such as Spotify, iTunes, CD Baby, and Amazon. According to the artist, the album comprises 13 songs and is a good representation of authentic reggae music. All rhythms featured on the album were created using live instruments. “People should support this album because it is as authentic as reggae music should be. GAYS PROTEST AGAINST CAPLETON IN NEW YORK CITY WAS IN VAIN!

Capleton was in fine form at BB King Club and Grill in New York last weekend despite a massive protest from gay rights group to axe him off the show. The protest comes only days after gays protest against Queen Ifrica causing the promoter of a show in New York to take her off the roster.
