CARLENE DAVIS’ “DRIPPING BLOOD” CONTINUES ITS BILLBOARD RUN!

Carlene Davis— Carlene Davis’ Dripping Blood album has entered its 12th week in the top 10 of the Billboard Reggae Chart. It peaked at No. 2 during the week of August 1. Davis’ popularity surged when she appeared at the recent Grace Jerk Festival in Queen’s, New York. Richard Lue, event organiser at VP Records, said “she blew the crowd away”. The gospel performer followed up that show by headlining the USA edition of Fun in the Son, held in the Bronx, New York, from August 14 – 16. CARLENE DAVIS GETS HER FIRST BILLBOARD CHARTED GOSPEL ALBUM WITH “DRIPPING BLOOD!”

Her Dripping Blood album, released by VP Records in March, is at number three on the Billboard Reggae Album Chart, behind the much-touted The Cure by singer Jah Cure. It is Davis’ 10th gospel album and her 25th overall. Not even in a fruitful secular career did she have a Billboard entry this high. TOMMY AND CARLENE’S DAUGHTER NAOMI COWAN GOES SOLO!

 Naomi Cowan—- AS the daughter of impresario Tommy Cowan and singer Carlene Davis, Naomi Cowan has been around music all her life. Recently, the Toronto-based singer/guitarist got off the mark as a solo artist with the release of the songs, Naked and Prepare (Ye The Way). Cowan is no stranger to the recording booth, having done backing vocals for her mother, as well as ‘voicing’ several of her ideas. In an interview with the Sunday Observer from Ontario, she spoke about Naked and Prepare (Ye The Way), her biggest projects to date. “It is a very freeing feeling. The singer said she made the decision days ago after seeing a picture in last Sunday’s Observer of a nine-year-old Liberian girl — Mercy Kennedy — crying because she lost her mother to Ebola. “When my husband [Tommy Cowan] and I saw the picture, we were moved. CARLENE DAVIS TO DROP NEW ALBUM OCTOBER 16!

 Carlene Davis—- GOSPEL singer Carlene Davis will launch her latest album Dripping Blood at the Redbones Blues Café in St Andrew next Thursday. Produced by Glory Music, the 16-track set has input from arranger Dave Green and singer Othneil Lewis. VP Records and Zojak will handle the distribution. According to the singer, the title track came out of a real experience and encounter with the Holy Spirit and the power of the blood of Jesus.
