FOR 2016, “TAD’S RECORDS WILL STAND ITS GUARD” SAYS ITS FOUNDER TAD DAWKINS!

 Tad Dawkins—- Looking back on 2015, the continued decline in music sale across the globe, has hurt all those involved with music, including Tad’s Records. Its founder and CEO, Tad Dawkins, said the slide impacted the company’s operations.  “We had to take a look at the industry, as it relates to physical and digital distribution, and strategise and revamp our operations,” said Dawkins. “There have been drastic declines in sales in both formats, and it is therefore imperative that we restructure to remain viable within the industry.” Dawkins told the Jamaica Observer that Tad’s Records is looking to capitalize on the music business’ most resurgent market. “We have seen a re-emergence of the vinyl market over the past year, for which we are now streamlining our company’s operations to take advantage of this new opportunity.” There were … Read entire article »

ROOTS SINGER CHEZIDEK, HEADLINES CONCERT IN NAIROBI, DECEMBER 5!

By Elly Gitau— Jamaican roots-reggae singer Desbert Johnson, better known as Chezidek, is coming to Kenya. Famed for his conscious music, the 42-year-old is on schedule to perform in Nairobi on December 5, at the Sarakasi Dome, at a music festival dubbed ‘Inna Di Road’. His tour of Kenya will be courtesy of music promoters Chini Ya Mti and Rockers Entertainment. Among some of his highly-acclaimed songs include Leave De Trees, Fight, Call Pon Dem, Can’t Hear Must Feel and Inna Di Road.   Chezidek was discovered by record producer Philip Burrell of the Xterminator Production, when he left his childhood rural St Ann’s Bay for Kingston after finishing school.
