“ANTI-GAY LYRICS DON’T AFFECT ENTERTAINERS GETTING VISAS” SAYS U.S. EMBASSY OFFICIAL!

Joshua Polacheck—- Public affairs officer at the United States Embassy in Kingston, Joshua Polacheck, is suggesting that some Jamaican entertainers who say they are being kept out of the United States because of homophobic lyrics are not telling the truth. Polacheck said yesterday that Jamaican entertainers have “never” been denied visas or had them taken away over matters such as as anti-gay lyrics. “No artist has ever been refused a visa for artistic reasons, and that includes promoting views that are either loving or repelling. The market may not choose to employ them,” Polacheck said. “Sometimes no one wants to hire them and they are using that as an excuse,” he added. CHRONIXX HEADS TO KENYA FOR CONCERT JUNE 18!

In March 2013, the singer performed at the Tuko Rada Peace Concert in Nairobi as a peace ambassador during the General Election. Formerly known as Little Chronicle, after his dad, Chronicle, the Jamaican star’s music has been branded as a Reggae Revival, alongside other reggae musicians, including Dre Island, Jah Bouks, Jah9, Protoje, Kelissa, Jesse Royal, Keznamdi and Kabaka Pyramid. RENEE NEUFVILLE OF ZHANE FAME, CONNECTS TO HER JAMAICAN ROOTS!

Their follow-up hits, including Groove Thang, Jamboree (featuring Naughty by Nature) and Sending My Love, made them a hot commodity. After releasing two studio albums, Zhane called it quits in 2000. Renee Neufville and Jean Morris comprised Zhane. Neufville, who has Jamaican roots, is getting ready to release a jazz song titled Watching Me. OMI, POPCAAN, AND CHRONIXX AMONG NOMINEES FOR 2015 MOBO AWARDS IN LONDON, NOVEMBER 4!

OMI competes with Popcaan, Chronixx, Protoje and last year’s winner Stylo G in that category. The MOBO Awards (Music of Black Origin) ‘recognises artistes of any ethnicity or nationality performing black music’. This is the first nomination for both OMI and Protoje. It is the second for Chronixx and third for Stylo G while Popcaan earns his fourth nomination. MYSTIC REVEALERS PUSHES FOR WEED LEGALIZATION WITH RELEASE OF NEW SINGLE!

 Mystic Revealers— HERB Must Legalise, the pro-ganja song from roots-reggae band Mystic Revealers, is scheduled for release in October. The digital launch of the song coincides with its music video, directed by Michael Cushnie. Production on the song started last year at the Grafton studio of producer Mikey Bennett. It has slots by artists including Chronixx, Kabaka Pyramid, Jesse Royal, Suzanne Couch and Canadian deejay Snow. It was initially scheduled for release this month, but that has been pushed back for completion and premier of the video which was filmed in Kingston and Bull Bay, the band’s longtime base.
