VETERAN GUITARIST, EARL “CHINNA” SMITH, HAS STRUMMED HIS WAY ON MANY REGGAE CLASSICS!

By socialyaad— – It’s despicable, disgusting and disgraceful the way the memory of the late great Dennis Brown has been treated by Jamaica, both in the public and private sectors. Once again the concert planned to honor the prince of reggae has been postponed. The month of February, which is the birth month of Dennis Brown came and went without any tribute being done in the memory of one of Jamaica’s great sons. Instead we are being told that just like last year, the concert to honor the prince of reggae has been postponed. DENNIS BROWN TRIBUTE CONCERT POSTPONED AGAIN!

 Dennis Brown— THIS year’s staging of the Dennis Brown Birthday Tribute concert scheduled for the Waterfront in downtown Kingston has hit another snag and will not take place tomorrow. Show organizer Junior Lincoln said no permit was granted to stage the event and, therefore, a new date would have to be decided on. “The election has really had an impact on all the open-air, mass events and this concert is no different. We have not received the go-head from the police or the UDC (Urban Development Corporation) and so we cannot proceed with the plans for this year’s concert,” Lincoln told Jamaica Observer. Lincoln said what compounds the situation is that each time the concert is postponed, it becomes more difficult to guarantee the artist line-up as some have contractual arrangements to perform elsewhere. THE DENNIS BROWN BIRTHDAY TRIBUTE IN KINGSTON,IS RESCHEDULED DUE TO THE GENERAL ELECTION!

DENNIS Brown’s Birthday Tribute Concert and the Trench Town Music Festival have been rescheduled due to the February 25 General Election. Junior Lincoln — vice-chairman of Jamaica Reggae Industry Association (JaRIA), event organizers — said police advised the two events should be rescheduled. “The Dennis Brown concert which was originally set for this Sunday, February 21 has now been pushed back to March 6 on the Kingston Waterfront, while the Trench Town Music Festival which was set for February 27, will be held on March 12,” Lincoln told the Jamaica Observer.
