COCOA TEA, ETANA AND TARRUS RILEY, HEADING TO BERMUDA IN MARCH!

By Colin Thompson— Cocoa Tea — Dancehall legend Cocoa Tea is coming to Bermuda’s shores. The veteran artist — who has produced hit after hit during his remarkable career — will perform at the Bermuda Athletic Association on March 24. Reggae stars Tarrus Riley and Etana will be with him for what promises to be a memorable and exciting occasion. Local acts have yet to be confirmed. Tickets go on sale at Ptix.bm in mid-January. The event is being put on by Spectrum Global. Their last show, featuring reggae dancehall great Mavado at Tiger Bay, proved popular with reggae fans. NEW YORK PROMOTERS ARE DEMANDING A REFUND FROM ETANA!

By Shereita Grizzle— Etana– Reggae songstress, Etana and organizers of a New York charity event are now at loggerheads after the entertainer failed to make an appearance at the show. The benefit was held in Queens, New York, on November 27 and was hosted by social media blogger and Dancehall Connections TV host, Tina Chin, in partnership with the Zion Kids Foundation led by president, Roxanne Little. Etana and Chuck Fenda were advertised as the headline acts, but according to Chin, Etana was a no-show. ETANA TO REPLACE THE BOOTED MATISYAHU AT THIS WEEKEND’S “ROTOTOM REGGAE FESTIVAL” IN SPAIN!

The Jamaican singer, who is currently on a month-long tour of Europe, told the Jamaica Observer she was not surprised by the last-minute call up. “My team got a call saying Rototom has an opening on the 22nd. They said yes and negotiations came after. At no point was anyone asked: Who was being replaced? Or made any mention of any other artiste,” she told the Observer. ETANA BELIEVES SHE BROKE NEW GROUNDS WITH RECENT USA TOUR!

 Etana— ETANA believes she broke new ground in terms of fans on her recent tour of the United States. The singer performed in 11 states, starting April 25 in Brooklyn College in New York at The Grog Shop. She closed June 14 at the Livewire in Scottsdale, Arizona, alongside Hawaiian singer Anuhea. The three-week trek was in promotion of Etana’s I Rise album which was released last October by VP Records. “The fans were hardly Jamaicans or any other Caribbean. I saw a lot of Jamaicans at the Washington DC, Howard Theatre show. Otherwise [it was] mainly African, white, Maui, Samoans, Guam, Hawaiians,” she told the Sunday Observer. “Some were already familiar with the music and some hearing me for the first time.
