ROOTS SINGER JAH9 WINDS DOWN TOUR, RELEASES NEW ALBUM “9” TODAY, SEPTEMBER 9, (9/9)!
Jah9— Roots singer Jah9 winds down her six-week tour with a show in Nairobi, Kenya this evening at The Alchemist Bar. Her much-anticipated second album, 9, will also be released today by VP Records. Her first, New Name, came out in 2013. Jah9 is scheduled to wrap her tour next Friday with a gig at Diani Beach, also in Kenya. The trek started July 23 at NorthWest World Reggae Festival in Portland, Oregon. JAH9 AND STEPHEN MARLEY TO PERFORM AT LAURYN HILL-PRODUCED HAITIAN ART SHOW, IN BROOKLYN!
BY HOWARD CAMPBELL— Jah9—- Jamaican artists Jah9 and Stephen Marley are among the performers for Diaspora Calling — a two-day event highlighting Haitian art at King’s Theater in Brooklyn, New York. Jah9 is scheduled to perform tomorrow, opening day. The show is promoted by Lauryn Hill, a former member of Grammy-winning group The Fugees, two of whose members (Wyclef Jean and Pras) are Haitians. Jah9 told the Jamaica Observer that she accepted an invitation from Hill’s management to be part of the entertainment package. “She had a lot of influence on my personal development, so I’m happy to do it. ROOTS SINGER JAH9 READIES FOR EUROPEAN TOUR!
Jah9—- ROOTS singer Jah9 returns to Europe next month for shows in four countries. The biggest of these gigs is the July 15-19 Dour Festival in Dour, Belgium. First held in 1989, the Dour attracts a diverse cast of artists, from hip hop, to rock, dancehall/reggae, Rhythm and Blues and soul. This year, Jah9 and singer Horace Andy are the Jamaican acts on Dour which has rapper Snoop Dogg and soul singer Lauryn Hill as headliners. Jah9 has been a regular on the European circuit for the last four years. Her first show on the upcoming visit is at Couleur Cafe in Brussels, Belgium on July 5. Four days later, she is in Munich.
