PRODUCER GARFIELD “SAMPALUE” PHILLIPS, BRINGS A NEW VIBE TO KINGSTON 10!

 By Howard Campbell—  Garfield ‘Sampalue’ Phillips— SEATED in his van as workmen put the finishing touches on Kingston 10 Sports Bar And Grill, Garfield Phillips keeps the proverbial eagle eye on proceedings. He launches his latest venture (located at Hillview Avenue) on December 11 with a fish fry and dance featuring DJ Inferno. The dreadlocked Phillips is known in music circles as Sampalue, head of Diamond Rush Productions, the record label that announced Lady Saw’s emergence as a dancehall force during the late 1980’s. By K’Shema Francis—   The Kingston and St. Andrew Corporation (KSAC) is urging dancehall deejay Lady Saw to contact them if she intends to continue to carry out her civic service, feeding the homeless. The Queen of the dancehall says she was upset when her efforts to feed the homeless in Down Town Kingston were marred.  The Queen of the dancehall in September donated school supplies to the Galina Primary school and is to present the school with two computers on Monday, October 5. The entertainer is trying to have the Court of Appeal overturn a default judgement in favour of a day’s worker who had to be hospitalised for a month after being mauled by dogs at her upper St Andrew home in 2009. When Lady Saw appeared in court today, the new date was set. In October 2012, 64-year-old Dorothy Wilson was awarded J$1.5 million with interest by Justice Leighton Pusey during an assessment of damages hearing in the Supreme Court. But the entertainer, whose given name is Marion Hall, in 2013 had the judgement overturned on the grounds that she was not served with documents.
