STAR-STUDDED GATHERING FOR “THE REGGAE POWER 2” ALBUM LAUNCH!

(PHOTOS: STEVE JAMES)—- THERE was a full house at Roe Japanese Restaurant in St Andrew Monday evening for the launch of Reggae Power 2, a joint production between Sly and Robbie’s Taxi Records and Spicy Chocolate, a hot Japanese production group. The 15-song compilation has songs from a number of artists such as T.O.K, Shaggy, No-Maddz, Richie Stephens, Romain Virgo and Maxi Priest. Drummer Sly Dunbar and his longtime musical partner, Robbie Shakespeare, were drafted into the project by Spicy Chocolate. ROMAIN VIRGO TO RELEASE NEW EP “LIFTED” OCTOBER 15!

 By Kevin Jackson—  Romain Virgo—- ROMAIN Virgo will release his second EP on October 15. Titled Lifted, the seven-track project is spearheaded by Fade Away, a song with Agent Sasco. Fade Away is co-produced by Viking Productions and Lifeline Productions. The former is owned by Virgo’s longtime manager Darwin Brown. Lifted also includes a cover of Michael Bolton’s Soul Provider, produced by German company Silly Walks Discotheque, the label behind Chronixx’ massive hit, Smile Jamaica. God Inna mi Corner, produced by deejay Bling Dawg, is also among the songs. “The EP showcases the direction to where we are going. We worked with a mixture of different producers to give it a different feel,” Virgo, 25, told the Jamaica Observer. Introducing Romain Virgo, released in 2010, was his first EP. BRITISH SINGER SAM SMITH, GIVES THUMPS UP TO ROMAIN VIRGO FOR REGGAE VERSION OF “STAY WITH ME”!

The single is from Smith’s debut album In the Lonely Hour released in May. BBC1 Extra radio disc jock DJ Toddla T brought the song’s attention to Smith. After listening to Virgo’s cover, he turned to Twitter. “Wow, I Just saw it! So sick!!!” he tweeted. THE FOURTH ANNUAL INTERNATIONAL REGGAE WINE FESTIVAL IS SET FOR OCTOBER 18, IN MONTEGO BAY!

The event is set for October 18 at the Whitter Village in Montego Bay and is geared towards persons who love the mix of good reggae music and fine wine.
