The annual Reggae on the River (ROTR) concert has become known for attracting some of the biggest names in the genre, and this year’s staging will be no different.
With still a few months to go before the actual staging of the event, the organisers have released a list of artists already booked for the show.
Slated to run from July 31 through to August 3, this year’s show returns to French’s Camp in Garberville, California.
Approximately 30 acts have already been billed, and it is expected that more will be added to the prestigious line-up as the weeks progress.
Some of the finest reggae artists, including veteran Jimmy Cliff, iconic band Third World, Sly and Robbie, and the Taxi Gang have already been named. Also billed for the show are up-and-coming artists Jah9 and Iba Mahr.
According to the show’s official website, the event’s 30th anniversary has meant organisers are pulling out all the stops in the hope of a successful staging.
Tickets for the show can be purchased online a twww.reggaeontheriver.com/tickets.htm or at select stores.
Interested persons are invited to visit the festival’s official site to view the list of available ticket outlets. The organisers also want to let fans know there won’t be any day passes this year; each person can purchase up to 10 tickets and children under 12 are free.
Guaranteed to be a family event, ROTR will also offer over 60 food and craft booths as well as a kiddy zone.
Special arrangements will be made for persons who are physically challenged, while there will also be a shuttle service for areas surrounding the venue.
The Mateel Community Centre is encouraging patrons to come out and enjoy a weekend of “camping, community and irie fun on the banks of the majestic Eel River”.
