BEENIE MAN’S “UNSTOPPABLE” DEBUTS AT NO.5 ON BILLBOARD CHART!

By Kevin Jackson—-  Beenie Man—- Beenie Man’s Unstoppable, his first studio album in 10 years, debuts at number five on the Billboard Reggae Album Chart. The set, released on September 16 by VP Records distribution arm VPAL, sold 244 copies in its first week. Unstoppable contains 22 songs. It features collaborations with Sizzla, Bounty Killer, Agent Sasco, J Gunn, Christopher Martin, Akon and Tarrus Riley. Producers include Major Lazer, Tony Kelly, Mario C, Jordan McClure, Seanizzle, Jeremy Harding and Don Corleone. Some of its tracks are Come To Me, Blue Lights, We Run Road (remix), Mash It Upand Bun It Up. Unstoppable is Beenie Man’s 11th title to chart on Billboard. NOMINATIONS ARE OPEN FOR THE MOBO (MUSIC OF BLACK ORIGIN) AWARDS!

By Richard Johnson—-  Sean Paul—-  Nominations are open for the Music of Black Origin (MOBO) Awards, which recognizes artists of any ethnicity or nationality performing black music, and will be presented in Glasgow, Scotland, on November 4. Of particular interest to local artists is the Best Reggae Act category. To be considered for nomination, the artist must have released a single, album or mixtape between August 29 last year and August 31 this year. According to MOBO organizers, any music released after this period will be considered for next year’s awards. The nominations will be reviewed by a panel and a shortlist of five nominees submitted to a group of more than 100 industry insiders for final votes. BIG THINGS COMING FROM LITTLE KIRK!

 Little Kirk— For more than a decade, singer Little Kirk was a member of Patrick Roberts’ Shocking Vibes label, which managed acts including Beenie Man, Snagga Puss, and Tanto Metro and Devonte. During that stint, he recorded a number of covers, including Michael Jackson’s Man in the Mirror and I Don’t Wanna Lose Your Love (Crystal Gayle). In 2008, the singer severed ties with Shocking Vibes and turned a new leaf. BEENIE MAN DENIED VISA TO CANADA, APOLOGIZES TO FANS!

  Dancehall star Beenie Man has apologized to fans in Canada for his non appearance at this weekend’s staging of rapper Drake’s OVO Festival. This is due to the fact that the required visa to travel to Canada was not granted. Representatives from Beenie Man’s management team made every effort to obtain the required documents, however all attempts proved futile. Additional support was provided by Drake’s team to have immigration lawyers represent their interest. This also proved unsuccessful.
