Sizzla’s US visa reinstated By K’Shema Francis —-  After being barred from the United States for some eight years, Sizzla Kalonji’s travel documents have been reinstated. In an exclusive Music News interview, Sizzla confirms the news. Reggae on the River festival is expected to run from between August 4-7 in California USA. Sizzla’s US visa and work permit were revoked in 2008. Fellow dancehall deejay Aidonia who was in a similar position, recently had his US visa reinstated. THE SIZZLA YOUTH FOUNDATION CONTINUES TO WORK FOR COMMUNITY PROJECTS!

 Sizzla Kalonji in performance at Redemption Live, held at Sabina Park in Kingston, on Sunday— Sizzla has broadened his Sizzla Youth Foundation by working with like-minded organizations in the community of August Town. The Foundation will coordinate with the University of the West Indies (UWI), Social Development Commission (SDC), Citizen Security and Justice Programme, Project Management Institute and the August Town police on several projects. On May 18, the parties had their first meeting at Sizzla’s Judgment Yard, in August Town. They discussed plans for the 178th Emancipation celebrations. Representatives from The Prime Minister’s Office, UWI, SDC and the parish council pledged their supportfor this year’s activities, which start June 1. SANCHEZ TO RELEASE HIS 36th ALBUM “BEWARE” APRIL 25!

 Sanchez— Beware, the 36th album from Sanchez, will be released on April 25. The 14-song set is produced by Lloyd ‘John John’ James. On it, the veteran singer collaborates with Sizzla Kalonji, Tony Curtis, Beenie Man and up-and-coming artist Mowet. “This is actually my 36th album and it feels like my first. As usual, it has been great working with John John and all the artists and musicians involved on this project. There were some great recording sessions, which, looking back, we should have had a video camera rolling, because the vibes and the energy and the creativity were way way up,” said Sanchez. The VP Records set, which was released last July, sold an additional 434 copies over the past week, bringing its total to 17,442 copies. The Cure sold 82 copies the previous week, and its surge reflects a more than 300 per cent increase. CLUB OWNER IN SOUTH LONDON SAYS POLICE TOLD HIM NOT TO PLAY DANCEHALL MUSIC!

 Roy Seda— POLICE in south London have allegedly told a bar owner he should not play Jamaican music which has been deemed ‘unacceptable’ by the town of Croydon. This development was reported by theguardian.com website on Friday. According to Roy Seda, operator of Dice Bar in Croydon, he has been approached by law enforcement more than once to stop playing dancehall music. The article stated that in an email sent to Seda last year, Sergeant Michael Emery, a licensing officer in Croydon, referred to “what this borough finds unacceptable forms of music”. The police force has been accused of racial profiling by minorities throughout the British capital. TESSANNE CHIN AND SIZZLA KALONJI HIT BILLBOARD CHARTS!

 By Kevin Jackson—  Tessanne Chin—- TESSANNE Chin and Sizzla Kalonji have made the Billboard charts this week. Chin scores her first Billboard entry since 2014, with the ballad Love Suicide, which debuts at number 30 on the Adult R&B Airplay chart. Love Suicide, released on Chin’s Chinita Entertainment label, is the first song by a Jamaican artist to make that Billboard list. It was written by Blu Jane, whose credits include songs by Rihanna, Mariah Carey and Ariana Grande.   Chin charted three times on Billboard charts between 2013 and 2014. Her cover of Whitney Houston’sI Have Nothing reached number 51 on the Hot 100 chart, while her reworking of Simon and Garfunkel’s Bridge Over Troubled Water stalled at number 64. SINGJAY GYDDIAN BREEZE GETS A SECOND CHANCE WITH A NEW DISTRIBUTION DEAL!

Gyddian Breeze—- It has been exactly one year since singjay Gyddian Breeze recorded the songs Rising Pon Dem and Push Out. Both co-produced by Ajang Productions, they have been given new life through a new distribution deal with Ariella Records, an independent company from Toronto, Canada. “They (Ariella) got in touch with me through Facebook an’ said they liked my songs an’ expressed an interest in working with me,” Gyddian Breeze, 29, told the Jamaica Observer. Under the arrangement, the company will re-release Rising Pon Dem (done with singjay Sata) and Push Out digitally. “Is a good thing yuh nuh…me’s all about the music, an’ getting proper exposure,” he said Gyddian Breeze was born Michael Anthony Burrell.
